Waikaraka Park Reopens Following $11 Million Infrastructure Upgrade

Auckland’s Waikaraka Park has officially reopened, debuting New Zealand’s first new speedway track built in nearly 25 years.

The $11 million project, delivered by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, has transformed the facility into an international-standard venue featuring:

  • 500lux lighting towers: Broadcast-quality illumination for night racing.
  • Expanded pit capacity: Room for 130 vehicles.

The upgrade allows the venue to serve as the centralized home for all Auckland four-wheel classes, including the Midgets and Sprintcars that previously raced at Western Springs. This modernization marks a new era for Auckland speedway, promising better facilities for drivers and spectators alike.
