Track History
Kihikihi Speedway Club was established in 1954 when permission was granted to build a track on the Kihikihi Domain. It is one of the oldest continuously operating speedway venues in New Zealand, still racing at its original location over 70 years later. It features a dual-track configuration with the outer 360-metre quarter-mile for cars and inner tracks for solo bikes. The venue hosted Speedway World Championship qualifying from 1982 — the first NZ venue to do so. The Andrew Edwards Memorial Sprintcar Race honours a rising star who suffered fatal injuries at Baypark and has grown into one of NZ's richest sprintcar events.
