A Championship Weekend - NZ Speedway
Track History
The club was founded in the 1970s as the Marlborough Scramble Car Club, initially at Foxes Island near Blenheim. In 1982 the club moved to the current site near Renwick. The mid-1980s brought a rebrand to 'Sun City Speedway' (referencing Blenheim's sunshine). In 1988 Street Stocks were introduced and the venue was renamed Eastern States Speedway. Lights installed in 1993 enabled night racing. At 422 metres, described as 'two airport runways joined by tight banked corners.' NZ Stockcar nights draw up to 7,000 spectators.
